GREENSBURG, Ind. – The 28th annual Decatur Golf Tournament recently raised an estimated $34,000 to benefit Our Hospice of South Central Indiana patients and families in the Decatur County service area. There were 96 golfers competing in the event, which has raised over $710,000 over the past 28 years.
Brian Wenning, Decatur Community Relations Committee member, presented the family of Jim Sturges with a framed inscription of a brick that will be placed at the Our Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus. Sturges was instrumental in starting the tournament and committed 25 years to raise funds for the golf outing.
Last year the program provided $139,000 in uncompensated professional medical care, support services, and bereavement care for patients and families.
In 2021, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana cared for 390 individuals with advanced illnesses in the Decatur service area and made over 300 bereavement contacts with patient family members.
