SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Walmart Supercenter contacted the Seymour Police Department (SPD) on Thursday and requested assistance in identifying an individual that had supposedly taken some items from the location. SPD investigators watched video footage and recognized the suspect obtaining a set of keys and a security removal device from a drawer and unlocking a cabinet that contained Apple and Garmin brand products.
Later, police found the suspect, Kennedie Paige Miller, 29, of Medora, at a store and took her into custody. She was allegedly in possession of identification and credit cards belonging to others, and clothing from Maurices and JC Penney with the price tags still attached.
Investigators had determined that Miller had used two of the credit cards at a Walmart involving separate transactions. She was arrested for theft, criminal trespass, and two counts of fraud.
On Friday, SPD obtained a search warrant for a purse belonging to Miller which was not in her immediate possession when she was arrested. Police say they located the keys that were used to remove the lock from the cabinet containing the Apple and Garmin items, the security device removal tool, two Apple watches that were on display at Wal-Mart, Verizon sim cards, and AT&T sim cards.
Additional charges will be requested involving the purported stolen clothing from Maurices and JC Penney.
