VERSAILLES, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) announced late last week that two new troopers have reported for duty at the ISP post in Versailles. The troopers are from a class of 18 recruits who just graduated from the 82nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy on Thursday, June 16.
The Versailles District includes Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, and Decatur Counties.
One of the new officers is local. Payton Utterback, 23, is a 2017 graduate of Franklin Community High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Intel Analysis at Indiana State University. He has also served in the Air National Guard since 2017.
Upon beginning solo patrol, Trp. Utterback will be assigned to Jackson and Bartholomew Counties. He and his wife live in Bartholomew County.
