GREENWOOD, Ind. — One man is dead following a collision involving delivery drivers Monday morning. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to a report of a crash in the 3000 block of West Olive Branch Road, West of State Road 135, at around 9:10 a.m.
Upon arrival, deputies found a delivery truck, contracted for Home Depot, in the eastbound lanes where it appeared a delivery was being made at a home.
According to JCSO, a pickup truck heading eastbound struck the rear of the delivery truck, pinning one of the delivery workers between the trucks. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The other two delivery workers and the pickup driver were injured and transported to Eskenazi and Methodist hospitals.
The driver of the pickup truck told deputies he was unable to see the delivery truck stopped on the road, likely because of the rising sun blinding him.
The sheriff’s office does not believe intoxication or unsafe driving was a factor. Investigators concluded it appeared to be a tragic accident due to difficulty seeing in the rising sunlight.
