SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) has arrested a group of people on drug, weapon, and suspected illegal immigration charges.
Law enforcement received a call on Tuesday, at around 12:30 a.m., about a disturbance near North Broadway and Ninth Streets where a firearm was displayed. When SPD arrived, officers spoke with a group of people who said they had been looking for a stolen bike and went to a North Broadway residence, an argument ensued, a gun was shown, and then taken back into a home.
Police obtained a search warrant and while looking for the firearm they noticed drug-related items in plain view. They got a second warrant to look for drug evidence and allegedly found the gun, plus methamphetamine, marijuana, tablets, and drug paraphernalia.
A total of five people were arrested:
- Derek A. Inman, 41, of Seymour, for possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana, and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
- Karley Elsner, 25, of Seymour, for possession of meth, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of marijuana.
- Omar Elias Teodosio Salvador, 30, of Seymour, for operating a motor vehicle while never having received a license.
- Eduin Fernandon Recarte, 31, of Seymour, for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm while in the country illegally, and visiting a common nuisance.
- Isreal Jacob Jiminez-Santiago, 33, of Seymour, for possession of a firearm, while in the country illegally, possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, visiting a common nuisance, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of paraphernalia.
All were transported to Jackson County Jail. The immigration status of Recarte, Jimenez-Santiago, and Teodosio Salvador is under investigation.
