SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. – Update: A Flood Advisory is in effect for Bartholomew, Decatur, Johnson, Rush and Shelby Counties until 10 a.m.
ORIGINAL: Bartholomew County Emergency Management says that the National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Flood Watch through Wednesday evening for Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, Brown, and Decatur Counties.
Flash flooding caused by disproportionate rainfall is possible. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.
Repeated rounds of rain Tuesday morning, Tuesday night, and Wednesday could lead to flooding, especially across areas that received heavy rain over the last 48 hours.
Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Continue to monitor weather forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
