BROWN COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) maintenance crews plan to close a section of State Road 135 in Brown County next week to remove and replace a quadruple drainage pipe.
Starting Monday, August 1, S.R. 135 will close near Beech Drive to allow workers to remove an existing structure from under the roadway and replace it with a new one. Crews will then backfill the area with concrete, which will require more cure time, through Tuesday, August 2.
Once the curing is done, the road will reopen to traffic. The surface will remain rough until patching work occurs later in the week. The project is expected to be complete by Friday, August 5. INDOT says that traffic should seek an alternate route while the road is closed.
The S.R. 135 bridge over Kiper Creek, north of Freetown, remains closed through late August for a replacement project in Jackson County.
