COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a vehicle pursuit in Columbus early Sunday morning. Marcos A. Maravilla Grimaldo, 28, was charged with resisting law enforcement in a vehicle and operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment.
The Columbus Police Department (CPD) received a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the south parking lot of NexusPark, at about 2 a.m.
When officers arrived, the suspect sped off in his Jeep. They pursued him as he traveled the wrong way on Caldwell Place. The chase was eventually terminated after police lost sight of the vehicle.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputies soon stopped the Jeep near Pence Apartments in East Columbus. Officers noted the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and his breath smelled of alcohol.
Grimaldo failed multiple field sobriety tests and CPD says he later provided a breath sample of .131%. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
