SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP)-Versailles Post on Wednesday morning stopped a vehicle on I-65 in northern Jackson County for traveling in excess of 100 mph. Two juvenile occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody on various charges.
A trooper pulled over a car on southbound I-65, near the 55-mile marker, at around 10 a.m. for traveling 111 mph in a 70 mph zone. The vehicle was being driven by a 17-year-old male juvenile from Crothersville. A 16-year-old male juvenile from Seymour was a passenger in the car.
The driver was allegedly found to be in possession of an alcoholic beverage, a look-a-like marijuana substance, and two realistic-looking fake firearms. The 17-year-old was arrested for reckless driving, possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor, and dealing in a look-a-like substance.
The 16-year-old was found to be a missing and wanted person. ISP says he was wanted on felony charges of burglary with a deadly weapon, robbery, and failure to appear.
Both juveniles were transported to the Jackson County Jail before being taken to a juvenile detention facility to be held pending court appearances.
