COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County officials have announced that in honor of Veterans Day the Courthouse and Robert N. Stewart Bridge will be illuminated green from November 7 to 13 as part of Operation Green Light. The National Association of Counties (NACo) initiative recognizes military veterans, raises awareness about their challenges, and promotes the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist them.
In addition to lighting county buildings for Operation Green Light, residents and businesses are encouraged to participate by simply changing one light bulb at their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see or an interior light that sparks a conversation with visiting friends.
By shining green lights, the community lets veterans know they are seen, appreciated, and supported. While this event is focused around the week of Veterans Day, you are asked to continue shining the light year-round. Share your participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.
