COLUMBUS, Ind. — UPDATE: The Columbus Police Department (CPD) is still investigating the fatal two-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday morning.
At about 11:10 a.m., CPD was dispatched to the 1400 block of State Road 11, near the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds.
Investigators determined that a car, driven by Ronald D. Rudicel, 69, of Scipio, was traveling south on State Road 11 when it veered left of center and struck an SUV going north, driven by Christal D. Downing, 46, of Columbus.
Rudicel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries, according to police. Downing was transported to Columbus Regional Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Columbus Police Department (CPD) is investigating a fatal accident that took place in the 1400 block of Jonesville Road near the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds on Tuesday.
The two-vehicle crash left one person dead and closed State Road 11 for about two hours for the initial investigation.
CPD’s Lt. Matt Harris said law enforcement hopes to provide more information on Wednesday.
