A Jennings County native has made the Top 10 of the Ball State University Foundation’s “Top 100 Student Awards.” Kathryn Burbrink of North Vernon, a senior at Teachers College, is studying Elementary Education and Special Education. She is listed ninth on the list of 100 recipients.
The award honors 100 outstanding undergraduates who represent the spirit of Beneficence, Ball State’s institutional statue and icon that symbolizes the generosity of the five Ball brothers whose land donation to the State of Indiana allowed the university to flourish.
Ball State announced the creation of its Top 100 Student Awards program last September, resulting in almost 200 nominations for the 2021-22 academic year. This year, the Foundation received nominations from every academic college. The resulting applications were scored by a select group of 11 BSU graduates.
In February, the Foundation announced the complete list of its 2023 Top 100 Students. On Saturday, students with the top 50 scores were invited to attend an awards ceremony.
The Foundation will also recognize all Top 100 Student Award recipients during One Ball State Day on Wednesday, April 5, at the Ball Brothers Foundation Hospitality Suite in Emens Auditorium. Students who earn a Top 100 award also receive a gold tassel to wear at their commencement ceremony.
