SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) has taken into custody two people in connection with a Monday night shooting that investigators believe stemmed from a dispute over a video game system.
Officers were called to the alley between the 700 block of S. Pine Street and the 700 block of S. Poplar Street, at around 8 p.m., after a report of shots fired from a vehicle. Witnesses said the car was white and described the driver as a white female with blond hair. There were also passengers in the car, per SPD.
The vehicle left the area going west on Jackson Street. No injuries were reported. Law enforcement collected shell casings at the scene.
Police received a tip Tuesday detailing who may have been involved. One suspect was arrested after a traffic stop and the other was at a home in Columbus. SPD obtained a search warrant for 1466 Chestnut St. in Columbus, where investigators found a 9mm handgun.
Billy Joe Gorbett, 20, of Brownstown, was arrested for intimidation, a level 5 felony, two counts of criminal recklessness, both level 5 felonies, and obstruction, a level 6 felony. Jodi Gorbett, 18, of Columbus, was arrested for intimidation, a level 5 felony, and criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony. Both were taken to Jackson County Jail.
