EDINBURGH, Ind. – The South Central Indiana Master Gardener Association (SCIMGA) is holding a public presentation called “What’s Eating My Plants? Destructive and Beneficial Insects in the Garden” at 6 p.m., Tuesday, August 8.
The presentation is at the historic Henry Breeding Farm, 13730 N. County Road 100W, in Edinburgh. Attendees should park to the right of the drive, in the labeled parking area. The presentation will be held in the barn.
Barbara Hass Jacobus, Ph.D., will focus on diagnosing “What’s eating my plants?” followed by a discussion on the management of insect pests, as well as providing a welcoming environment for beneficial insects as part of a pest management program. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions about preventing insect damage, including photos of damage for a possible diagnosis and treatment plan.
Hass Jacobus is a Master Gardener Intern and holds her Ph.D. in Plant Genetics and Molecular Biology from Purdue University. She is a Teaching Professor in Biology at IUPUC. SCIMGA is the local chapter of Purdue Extension Master Gardeners and hosts public events and educational sessions throughout the year in the Columbus area.
