COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Brown County Sheriff’s Office deputy is in critical but stable condition after being involved in a crash while riding his motorcycle on Wednesday.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to the accident involving a motorcycle and pick-up truck at the intersection of West State Road 46 and Old Nashville Road, at around 2:45 p.m. Dispatch was informed that the driver of the motorcycle was unresponsive, and additional assistance was required.
The operator, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy True, was off-duty at the time of the crash. He suffered significant head injuries as a result of the accident, per BCSO. True was transported via Lifeline to an Indianapolis area hospital.
The Bartholomew County Accident Reconstruction Team’s preliminary investigation indicates that the pick-up truck pulled out onto State Road 46 from Old Nashville Road in front of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision, according to law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing.
