PAU's InterOculus-Courtesy-Exhibit Columbus/KUBANY
COLUMBUS, Ind. – The finishing touches on the installations for Exhibit Columbus 2023 are being implemented early this week. The show opens this Saturday, August 26.
PAU’s InterOculus, a 38-foot-tall structure, is an installation being erected at the intersection of Fourth and Washington Streets. Over 3000 square feet of white vinyl fabric will be stretched over its canopy form. The installation’s celebratory purpose and equitable invitation are derived from an extensive community engagement process and inspired by influences as diverse as the iconic Pantheon in Rome, local carnival vernacular, ice cream sundaes from Zaharakos, and the wigwams of the Miami and Shawnee peoples.
On Tuesday, August 22, at 9 a.m., in downtown Columbus, the public is invited to meet Richard McCoy, Founder of Exhibit Columbus and Executive Director of Landmark Columbus Foundation, for a preview of the exhibitions and a tour of the final moments of the installation.
Exhibit Columbus is an exploration of community, architecture, art, and design, that activates the design legacy of Columbus. It creates a cycle of programming that uses this context to convene conversations around innovative ideas and commissions site-responsive installations in a free, public exhibition.
