NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a community advisory following a recent surge in overdose incidents over the weekend. In particular, we have responded to three separate overdose cases, with two of them directly linked to fentanyl-laced pills known as “Oxycodone 30s” (inscribed with “M” / 30).
This alarming trend has raised serious concerns among law enforcement and health professionals alike. Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid, is being illicitly mixed with counterfeit pills, making it exceptionally dangerous for those who unwittingly consume them.
The safety of the community is law enforcement’s top priority. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to the distribution or use of these counterfeit pills. By working together, JCSO can help protect loved ones from the potentially lethal consequences of these substances.
Here are some Community Safety Measures outlined by JCSO:
- Awareness: We urge the community to be vigilant and informed about the potential dangers associated with these counterfeit pills. If you or someone you know comes into contact with pills matching this description, please exercise extreme caution.
- Avoid Unverified Sources: Do not purchase prescription medications or opioids from unverified or illegal sources. Seek medical advice from a licensed healthcare provider if needed.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you encounter what you suspect to be counterfeit pills or have information related to their distribution, please contact the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office immediately. Your tips and information can help combat this dangerous trend.
- Education and Support: JCSO encourages individuals and families affected by substance use disorders to seek support and assistance from local healthcare providers, treatment centers, and addiction support services.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office is committed to combating the illicit distribution of dangerous drugs in the community. The sheriff and his deputies thank you for your cooperation and encourage you to stay informed about this evolving situation.
