EDINBURGH, Ind. – An employee at Georg Utz, Inc. is dead after an accident on the shop floor on Wednesday.
Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting identified the man as Charles D. Carson, 66, of Elizabethtown. The Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to 14000 N. County Road 250W at 12:08 p.m.
According to the coroner’s office, Carson had been working on some equipment when what appeared to be a large piece of metal suspended from a crane struck him in the head.
Edinburgh Fire and Rescue and its EMS team, along with the Edinburgh Police Department, arrived and rendered life-saving measures, however, they were unsuccessful.
The incident is still under investigation. X-rays and toxicology reports are pending.
