NORTH VERNON, Ind. – A Jennings County woman was arrested on several charges last week after hitting a pedestrian with her car.
The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was dispatched to Highway 50, near County Road 75E after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, on December 2, at 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle who struck the pedestrian was identified as Bailey Wright, 24, of North Vernon. Wright advised she had been traveling east when the man entered the roadway and she struck him.
JCSO said that Wright allegedly admitted to being under the influence of marijuana and recently using methamphetamine. During a probable cause search of her vehicle, deputies located both substances.
The man was taken by ambulance to Ascension St. Vincent Jennings before being transported to a trauma center in serious condition.
