COLUMBUS, Ind. – The latest weather-related message from Bartholomew County Emergency Management indicates that although residents are waking up to wind chill values of between -20 to -30 Monday morning, warmer temperatures are forthcoming.
A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect through Monday at 1 p.m. Occasional light snow is possible through Monday night with accumulations of less than an inch.
It will continue to be bitterly cold with below-zero wind chills through Tuesday morning. By Wednesday, the highs will be in the upper 20s.
BCEM reminds residents that warming centers are available in Columbus 24 hours a day. Brighter Days Housing is open from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. daily and the hours for the Community Engagement Center are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
The city’s transit department says ColumBUS is making a trip each day at 7:45 a.m. from Brighter Days to the Community Center so that clients will not have to walk.
