EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Town of Edinburgh is requesting proposals for a mural design to be painted on the side of downtown’s Sakura Event Center building, at 126 E. Main Cross St., to celebrate the historic total solar eclipse taking place on Monday, April 8.
The mural will be part of the Edinburgh Eclipse Festival theme, Total Eclipse of the Art.
Artists should apply before the deadline, February 16, at 5 p.m. Applications can be submitted electronically to jrdcc@edinburgh.in.us, by mail, or in person at John R Drybread Community Center, 100 E Main Cross Street, Edinburgh, 46124.
The application must include your Statement of Interest, Previous work, Concept Design, and Conceptual Statement. Find all of the information you need about applying by going here.
The budget for each artist group must not exceed 5K. The funding for this project comes from a $2,000 grant awarded by IU Rural Development Center and also sponsorships and other donations.
The announcement of the winning Total Ecplise of the Art artist will be made on Saturday, February 17.
