JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – As a result of an ongoing criminal investigation by the Indiana State Police Field Investigations, detectives provided updated information and evidence to Special Prosecutor Richard J. Hertel, who filed for additional criminal charges against Jamey Noel, and for criminal charges against his wife, Misty Noel.
Former Sheriff Jamey Noel was charged with 15 felonies in November 2023. He was alleged to have paid some of his jail maintenance employees for handyman jobs on his personal property while they were on duty for the county.
On Thursday, Jamey and Misty Noel appeared in the Clark County Circuit Court with their family and legal team. After being presented with the criminal charges, Misty Noel was arrested and jailed without bond until her initial court appearance on Monday, February 5.
Misty Noel was charged with:
- Five (5) counts of Theft (over $50,000), Level 5 Felonies
- Five (5) counts of Tax Evasion, Level 6 Felonies
In addition to his 15 original charges from November 2023, Jamey Noel has added:
- Five (5) counts of Theft (over $50,000), Level 5 Felonies
- Five (5) counts of Tax Evasion, Level 6 Felonies
The former sheriff remains out on bond.
