COLUMBUS, Ind. – All Kids Bike, the national nonprofit teaching kindergarten students how to ride bikes in PE class, is activating its mission at Clifty Creek Elementary School in Columbus, thanks to a donation from the Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club.
The comprehensive program includes teacher training and certification, a fleet of 24 bikes, pedal conversion kits, helmets, an instructional bike for teachers, two rolling storage racks, and access to a resource portal with live support for the duration of the program.
Clifty Creek Elementary celebrated the introduction of the program with a kickoff event after members of the Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club built the bikes for the school.
“Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club is thrilled to sponsor its fourth school, Clifty Creek, with an All Kids Bike program,” said club representative Tyler Klassen. “We love All Kids Bike because it gets more kids on two wheels, and maybe someday they will come out to the club and ride with us.”
At Clifty Creek Elementary School, this program will positively impact approximately 125 kindergarten students each year. With a lifespan of 7-10 years for the equipment, it is estimated that up to 1250 students will benefit from this initiative over the next decade.
Principal Patrick Mahaffey of Clifty Creek Elementary stated, “We are grateful to Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club and the All Kids Bike program for this opportunity. We are excited to watch our Kindergarteners learn in a safe environment and master this life-long skill.”
