COLUMBUS, Ind. – Several Columbus East High School senior girls spent Wednesday learning about safety on and off campus during the annual Situational Awareness For Everyday (SAFE) class.
The morning session featured classroom instruction and the afternoon portion allowed students to learn and apply self-defense moves.
The annual event is designed to be a crash course in personal safety for young women as they are about to graduate from high school. The instruction helps make students aware of dangerous situations in and away from school.
Senior girls from Columbus North High School participated in the same SAFE class last Friday.
Columbus Police Department officers and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office deputies instructed and assisted with the classes at North and East this year.
