CLARK COUNTY, Ind. – A man was arrested on felony drug charges after crashing his car in Clark County.
Shortly before 3:00 on Wednesday morning, Indiana State Police (ISP) responded to the report of a single-vehicle roll-over accident on U.S. 31, near Brownstown Road, in Henryville. Troopers were also alerted that the driver was supposedly removing articles from the car and placing them in a wooded area near the crash.
ISP identified Nathan Baldwin, 35, of Scottsburg, as the driver. The initial investigation indicates that Baldwin attempted to avoid deer on the wet roadway and lost control of his car. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned in a ditch on the west side of the road.
As the investigation continued, officers located a backpack lying in the woods. It allegedly contained suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, along with drug-related items. The backpack was reportedly linked to the suspect.
Ambulance personnel medically cleared Nathan Baldwin at the scene. He was then arrested and transported to the Clark County Jail on the following charges:
- Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon – Level 4 Felony.
- Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug – Level 5 felony.
- Dealing in Meth – Level 5 felony.
- Obstruction of Justice – Level 6 felony.
- Possession of Legend Drug Injection Devices- Level 6 Felony
- Possession of Paraphernalia – A Misdemeanor
