COLUMBUS, Ind. – Late last month, the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) was called to Alan Drive for a reported stolen trike. But it wasn’t your typical theft.
Deputy Tyler Cooper met with Della Dowden who stated that her son’s tricycle was stolen from her yard. However, BCSO was unable to locate it.
Her son, Tylor, is 30 years old with Down Syndrome and his tricycle is very precious to him. He was devastated. Fortunately, this story has a heartwarming ending.
Sheriff’s office members came together and purchased a new tricycle with a lock for Tylor. It was delivered to him on March 12 and he couldn’t have been happier.
“I’m extremely proud of the members of BCSO who went out of their way to purchase a new tricycle for Tylor,” said Sheriff Chris Lane. “Our deputies not only protect this community, but they truly care about those they serve. A special thanks goes to Detective Will Kinman for organizing a fundraiser to purchase the tricycle.”
