COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man was arrested at a local park Thursday afternoon after the Columbus Police Department (CPD) allegedly discovered drugs and drug-related items inside his vehicle.
An officer was conducting an extra patrol at Noblitt Park around 5:40 p.m. when he noticed a car parked near the entrance. The vehicle’s occupant was later identified as Joshua L. Pennington, 44, of Edinburgh.
While speaking with the man, the officer said he detected the burnt odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and also supposedly saw several large knives in the car.
During a car search, police say they found marijuana and a pipe that contained methamphetamine.
Pennington was taken into custody, taken to Bartholomew County Jail, and preliminarily charged with Possession of Meth, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
