NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies pulled over a vehicle after witnessing a traffic infraction near U.S. 50 and O&M Avenue early Thursday morning.
During the traffic stop, officers said they observed both occupants giving indicators of illegal activity. Sgt. John Amis and K9 Dino were summoned to the scene at 4 a.m. and a free air sniff of the car was conducted which resulted in K9 Dino alerting to the odor of illegal narcotics inside.
When deputies searched the vehicle and the suspects, they allegedly located over 400 pressed Fentanyl pills (more than two ounces) along with methamphetamine, controlled substances, and other indicators of the distribution of illegal narcotics.
The driver, Erron R. Fleshman, 26, and a passenger, Keersten F. Smith,27, both of North Vernon, were taken into custody without incident, and are being held at the Jennings County Jail.
JCSO says they are both preliminary charged with:
- Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (Level 2 Felony)
- Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 3 Felony)
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Meth (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of Paraphernalia (Class C Misdemeanor)
