NORTH VERNON, Ind. – A former North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) officer was arrested on a felony charge of Possession of Child Pornography on Tuesday following a two-month investigation by detectives with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post.
The investigation started two months ago when allegations of inappropriate conduct were made against NVPD officer Jaydan Vanosdol, 22. Detectives learned that the suspect allegedly began inappropriately communicating with a female juvenile through a social media app about one month earlier. The correspondence involved sending nude photos to each other.
When the investigation ended, the case went to the Jennings County Prosecutor for review. A warrant was issued and Vanosdol was taken into custody on one count of possession of child pornography (level 6 felony). He is incarcerated in the Jennings County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
Vanosdol was suspended from his position at NVPD when the investigation began and he was terminated before being arrested on the charge.
