NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The City of North Vernon recently posted a link to apply for the position of City Park Director on its website and social media account.
The posting confused community members, as Chad Speer now holds and has held the City Park Director title since 2005. This led to speculation that Speer had possibly been terminated or that he had resigned.
However, after contacting the city administration, it was clarified that it was neither.
Mayor Shawn Gerkin explained that he had updated the job description of “City Park Director” and he decided to open the position to other applicants. He added that Speer has been informed and that he is welcome to apply as well.
