SCOTTSBURG, Ind., – The pursuit of a motorcyclist in Scott County ended with the arrest of a Scottsburg resident.
An Indiana State Police (ISP) trooper, patrolling State Road 56 near US Highway 31 on Monday at around 9:20 p.m., observed a motorcycle traveling west on S.R. 56 doing a wheelie. After the motorcycle’s front wheel was back on the ground, a traffic stop was attempted.
Instead of pulling over, the motorcyclist accelerated and ran a red light. He continued to flee from law enforcement, allegedly disregarding multiple stop signs at intersections and driving off-road through grass. During the chase, the motorcycle rider reportedly traveled head-on at a Scott County deputy before turning away.
At US 31 near Fairground Road, the motorcycle rider again left the roadway, driving between homes in the subdivision. The motorcycle was abandoned in the yard of a house on Jarin Court, where the suspect fled on foot.
ISP learned from neighbors that the rider lived at the home where the motorcycle had been abandoned Christian Lindebald, 29, of Scottsburg, voluntarily came outside and was placed into custody without further incident.
Lindebald was transported to the Scott County Jail where he was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle (Level 6 Felony) and Reckless Driving (Class C Misdemeanor).
