SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Muscatutuck National Wildlife Refuge in Seymour has scheduled its annual Christmas Bird Count for New Year’s Day, January 1. Anyone who enjoys bird-watching is invited.
Participants will gather at the refuge Visitor Center at 7:30 a.m. and be assigned to a group to help with the refuge’s “bird inventory.” The bird count is a great way for inexperienced birders to learn from experts.
Attendees should plan on being outside for at least half a day. The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the non-profit refuge friends group, will provide a hot lunch to volunteers working the Christmas Bird Count.
The Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge is located three miles east of Seymour on U.S. 50. For more information call 812-522-4352, extension 12, or email Muscatatuck@fws.gov.
