FRANKLIN/EDINBURGH, Ind. – Due to the Winter Storm, several Warming Centers in Johnson County are available for those needing temporary relief from the extreme cold.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Johnson County from 7 a.m. on Sunday until 7 p.m. on Monday.
Heavy mixed precipitation is expected with four to eight inches of snow and sleet, and ice accumulations around one-tenth of an inch. Isolated higher snow and ice accumulations are possible in some areas. NWS says winds will gust as high as 35 mph.
Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Significant ice accumulation on power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting power outages.
