FRANKLIN, Ind. – Three Franklin College students, accompanied by Scott McDaniel, assistant professor of journalism and chair of the Pulliam School of Journalism, traveled to New Orleans to cover the Super Bowl earlier this month. While in New Orleans, the students gained valuable experience with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
They worked on Media Row at the New Orleans Convention Center where they rubbed elbows with media outlets from around the country and they interviewed players on the field in Caesars Superdome.
The students (Caleb Crockett, Hadley Fuhrman, and Ryan Gage) wrote stories, filmed interviews, and prepared graphics while in New Orleans. Crockett is a junior sports communication and multimedia journalism major, from Whiteland.
They published their content on www.thestatehousefile.com, an Indiana news site powered by the students of Franklin College’s Pulliam School of Journalism, and on www.thefranklinnews.com, the award-winning student news website of Franklin College.
The student reporters sought out interviews with Hoosier natives, including Peyton Hendershot, a Kansas City Chiefs tight end, and Carson Steele, a running back for the Chiefs. McDaniel’s article about their experience can be found at https://bit.ly/2025_Super_
