COLUMBUS, Ind. – The annual Memorial Day service in Columbus has been scheduled for Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m., at the Bartholomew County Memorial for Veterans on the south side of the Bartholomew County Courthouse.
The service will feature a reading of each name of a local veteran who has passed in the past year, followed by a tolling of a special bell. The ceremony also includes wreaths placed by representatives of the Gold Star Mothers, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Music will be provided by the Southern Indiana Pipes and Drums. The service concludes with the Bartholomew County Honor Guard performing the 21-gun salute, followed by the playing of “Taps” by Michael Schmelz.
Limited seating will be available, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. In the event of rain, the service will be held inside the Columbus City Hall.
