COLUMBUS, Ind. – Due to forecasted weather conditions during the scheduled time of the Salute! 2025 Concert, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic (CIP) has made the difficult decision to move the event indoors. The free concert will now be at Erne Auditorium at Columbus North High School, 1400 25th St., this Friday, May 23, at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6.
Organizers said, “This decision was not made lightly, as we greatly value the tradition of performing outdoors for our community each year. However, after consulting with several weather forecasting sources—including meteorologists affiliated with the Columbus Municipal Airport—we determined the change to be necessary. At the time of the performance, temperatures are expected to be around 60° and falling into the low-to-mid 50s. These conditions pose a risk of damage to musical instruments and would also impact the comfort and safety of both musicians and attendees.”
The annual CIP event kicks off Memorial Day Weekend in Columbus and honors those who have served in the United States Armed Forces with a program of patriotic and contemporary music.
Maj. Gen. Mark A. Pillar, USAF (Ret.), will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
