NORTH VERNON, Ind. – A Jennings County man was arrested last week on multiple drug-related charges.
On Tuesday, May 20, the North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) responded to a report of a suspicious odor at Pine View Apartments, on Henry Street, in North Vernon. Upon arrival, officers detected an odor commonly associated with methamphetamine.
A brief investigation led to contact with the resident of Apartment 2, identified as 63-year-old Gordon C. Challies III of North Vernon.
During a consensual search of a backpack belonging to Challies, officers allegedly located marijuana and drug-related items. A search warrant was later obtained and executed, supposedly resulting in NVPD finding other controlled substances, including meth and fentanyl.
Challies was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jennings County Jail. He was arrested on the following preliminary charges:
- Possession of Marijuana/Hash Oil/Hashish/Salvia
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Paraphernalia
