COLUMBUS, Ind. – According to an anonymous source, the Diesel Workers Union (DWU) will conduct a strike vote on Thursday and Friday following negotiations with Cummins.
In a letter posted to social media, the DWU Bargaining Committee reported the following: “The DWU Bargaining Committee met with the Company from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, in an effort to continue negotiations. The Company did not give an offer/proposal to present to the membership for a vote. We will conduct an authorization to strike vote at the DWU Union Hall from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6. There are no absentee ballots.”
The letter continued, “An authorization to strike does not mean we will strike immediately. This only means our membership has given their consent to the DWU Bargaining Committee to authorize a strike. This is a very important step in the bargaining process. We highly encourage you to come to the hall and cast your vote.”
