NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County United Way will hold a free “Get Ahead” tax clinic this Tuesday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Way Center, 707 N. State St., in North Vernon.
“This event is geared toward low-income residents who may owe income taxes they can’t afford to pay, but all are welcome,” said Cheri Massey, United Way director. “It is for anyone who needs help with an IRS issue, needs to file a late return or amend a return, or wants to check to see if their W2 withholding, Marketplace Premiums, or estimated tax payment amounts are appropriate.”
The clinic will have the Taxpayer Advocate Service available. Local volunteers will also offer walk-in tax prep, e-file, appointments, and paycheck check-ups.
“We encourage you to walk in. Bring your ID, Social security card, and all tax documents for tax returns, your W2s for the withholding and Marketplace Premium checks, or schedule an appointment during the clinic hours,” Massey said.
You can find details, make an appointment, and get more information online at jcunitedway.org or by calling 812-346-5257.
The United Way has “Get Ahead” workshops throughout the year. They teach financial empowerment to equip participants with the tools to turn “paycheck to paycheck” into bright, secure futures.
