NORTH VERNON, Ind. –The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) took one woman into custody following a domestic dispute near the area of Pizza Hut on Hurley Drive on Tuesday, June 10.
A witness reported seeing a female strike a male several times while seated in a vehicle. Officers conducted interviews with both parties involved and witnesses.
NVPD observed signs of impairment from the female subject, who allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. A portable breath test resulted in a reading of 0.182%. A subsequent blood draw was conducted at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
The driver, Rachel Goins, was placed under arrest and transported to the Jennings County Jail.
She faces the following preliminary charges:
- Domestic Battery
- Operating While Intoxicated – Endangering a Person
- Operating a Vehicle with a BAC of .15% or More
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
