FRANKLIN, Ind. – Indiana 2-1-1 and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration have announced that several “Cooling Centers” have been opened in Johnson County for residents who need relief from the high temperatures and humidity.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has declared a Heat Advisory until Friday, June 27, at 8 p.m. for Johnson County and most of Indiana.
Heat index values up to 105 degrees are expected daily, with low temperatures remaining at or above 75 degrees each night. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
To avoid the heat, citizens are welcome to visit these “Cooling Stations.”
- Johnson County Public Library branches in Franklin, Whiteland, Greenwood, and Trafalgar – Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- City of Franklin – 396 Branigan Blvd. – Monday to Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Salvation Army in Greenwood – 325 Market St. – Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
