TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a public information meeting on Tuesday, July 15, for the planned Taylorsville Rest Area truck parking conversion project in Bartholomew County. It will be in the Community Room at Ivy Tech Community College, 4475 Central Ave., in Columbus (Room 130).
The public can interact with the project team and receive the latest updates on the project. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. to allow attendees time to view displays and talk with project personnel before a presentation at 6 p.m.
The INDOT project will reduce truck-parking congestion at the Taylorsville Rest Areas by providing sufficient parking capacity and improved facilities to support the current and projected traffic volume. Construction is anticipated to begin this fall.
The Maintenance of Traffic plan for the project will require closing the existing Taylorsville Rest Area ramps and facilities. They are expected to be closed for about 23 months. Both the northbound and southbound rest areas will be closed simultaneously. Traffic on northbound and southbound I-65 will be maintained for the duration of the project.
Questions can be submitted to Imtiyaz Dalal with Janssen and Spaans Engineering, Inc. at idalal@jsengr.com, or via mail at 9120 Harrison Park Ct., Indianapolis, Indiana, 46216.
