
COLUMBUS, Ind.– The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is investigating a suspected accidental shooting on Thursday, July 3.
BSO deputies responded to Columbus Regional Health (CRH) regarding a accidental shooting at approximately 7:02 p.m. The victim, a 15-year-old male who had been shot while cleaning a firearm, had been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle from his home in Petersville.
The juvenile victim received medical treatment at CRH but was ultimately flown by Lifeline helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
The juvenile remains in the care of Methodist Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
