COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Highway Department is closing a portion of Whitehorse Road for road improvements and realignment starting at noon today, Tuesday, July 22. It will be shut down until 3 p.m. on Friday, July 25.
Whitehorse Road will close from Bellesville Pike (in Brown County) to Youth Camp Road, with only local traffic permitted. Barricades will be staggered for local traffic only. Through-traffic will not be allowed during the closure because a large section of road will be missing.
Officials are asking drivers not to move or remove “Road Closed” signs and barricades as the next person coming through could get injured. Avoid this area, and watch for work crews and trucks.
Residents north of 3931 S. Whitehorse Rd. to Youthcamp Road (including those on County Road 170S) must use Youthcamp Road.
Those south of 3969 S. Whitehorse Rd. to Bellesville Pike must use Bellesville to get to their homes.
