GREENSBURG, Ind. – The Greensburg Police Department continues to investigate a Thursday morning fatal accident. A woman was struck and killed while riding her bike in Greensburg.
Authorities say the bicyclist, identified as Nyssa Campos, 20, of Greensburg, was found unconscious in the travel lanes of Montgomery Road near Fleetwood Drive at around 10:40 a.m.
The initial investigation determined Campos was riding her bike on the walking trail and began to cross Montgomery Road when she was struck by a commercial vehicle, which responding officers were unable to locate when they arrived on the scene. Campos was pronounced dead at the scene.
After canvassing the area, Greensburg Police and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department eventually located the driver and the commercial vehicle.
The driver, Johnathan Hayden, 35, of Indianapolis, is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
