COLUMBUS, Ind. – Wednesday, August 6, is the first day of classes for the 2025-2026 school year for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) and the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corporation (FRHSC).
Dane Duke, Criminal Investigations/Public Information Officer for the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), alerts motorists to slow down in school zones as BCSO will be conducting special traffic enforcement activities in coordination with the start of school.
Patrolling deputies will be concentrating on speeding and school bus stop arm violations in FRHSC and BCSC school zones.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds you that not only is it a traffic infraction to pass a school bus with the stop arm extended and red lights flashing, but it can become a criminal misdemeanor or felony under the Reckless Driving statute, and your license can be suspended.
