COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Mill Race Theatre Company (MRTC) is hosting auditions for Nicole Cunningham’s production “In Praise of Sparrows” on Sunday, August 10, and Monday, August 11, at the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church, 2611 Fairlawn Dr., in Columbus.
The Sunday tryouts are from 5 to 8 p.m., and the Monday auditions are from 6 to 9 p.m. They are open to anyone ages 10 and up. There are speaking parts for young actors, with the majority of roles for adults, including senior actors. There is no cost to participate in the play.
Representatives at MRTC say they are seeking culturally diverse individuals for some parts. They also advise that the play contains a few mature scenes.
Performance dates are set for October 3, 4, and 5. If you have questions, email Director Nicole Cunningham at nicolecunningham@millracetheatre.org. If you do not act, you can get involved by working backstage or on staff.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script in a collaborative environment. Printed audition forms and waivers must be filled out at auditions. You can review the participation waiver in advance here. A waiver must be signed by each actor auditioning in person and every cast member.
If you cannot make the scheduled audition dates, email Production Manager Josh Hogan at joshhogan@millracetheatre.org by August 9.
The cast list will be released on the MRTC website and social media pages on Tuesday, August 11. Rehearsals begin Monday, August 18. All cast members must attend the rehearsals every night during the final week.
