DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana State Police (ISP) officers arrested a Cincinnati woman after she allegedly drove intoxicated westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-74 in Dearborn County on Sunday morning, August 17.
Multiple troopers patrolling on I-74 overheard a Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office dispatch of a car, later determined to be operated by Erin Dowers, 35, of Cincinnati, traveling the wrong way on I-74 near the Indiana/Ohio State Line.
When a trooper positioned his ISP vehicle in front of Dowers’ car, she entered the median of I-74 to try to avoid the trooper. His and Dowers’ vehicle collided at a slow speed. The suspect continued westbound past him, but another trooper assisted in getting her to stop.
An investigation determined that Dowers was allegedly intoxicated. She was arrested and transported to the Dearborn County Jail, where she was incarcerated on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
