COLUMBUS, Ind. – The change in Bartholomew County laws concerning the usage of UTVs and golf carts on county highways goes into effect on August 28.
On Monday, the Bartholomew County Board of Commissioners approved a new ordinance permitting UTVs and recreational off-highway vehicles (as defined in that ordinance) to be operated on county roads within unincorporated Bartholomew County.
Golf carts (as defined in the ordinance) are permitted to be driven only on internal neighborhood roads within unincorporated Bartholomew County.
Ordinance 2025-04, which amends Title VII (Traffic Code) of the Bartholomew County Code of Ordinances, explains the difference between a “county road and a “neighborhood road” and what the county defines as a UTV and recreational off-highway vehicle.
