COLUMBUS, Ind. – The City of Columbus and the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) hosted dignitaries, students, and their chaperones from Columbus’s sister city, Miyoshi, Japan, last week. All of the visitors were given a tour of the city.
Columbus and Miyoshi have maintained this partnership for over 30 years, with hundreds of kids and adults from opposite sides of the world benefiting from this cultural and educational exchange.
Miyoshi city officials, including its mayor, Tasuku Oyama, were welcomed and recognized by Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon. Several Miyoshi students also made the trip and were entertained by their BCSC peers.
BCSC lauded the people who make this partnership possible from its standpoint, including:
- Columbus families who graciously hosted the guests in your homes
- BCSC staff who served as welcoming educational hosts for the visitors,
- The Friends of Miyoshi committee that helps maintain this relationship
